On 23 November 1940, Ion Antonescu for Romania signs the Tripartite Pact and officially allies itself with Germany, Italy and Japan.
The Tripartite Pact , a defensive military alliance, also known as the Berlin Pact , was an agreement between Germany , Italy and Japan signed in Berlin on 27 September 1940 by Joachim von Ribbentrop , Galeazzo Ciano and Saburō Kurusu ,and by Ion Antonescu for Romania on 23 November 1940.
The Tripartite Pact, along with the Anti-Comintern Pact and the Steel Pact, was one of several agreements between Germany, Japan, Italy and other Axis countries governing their relations.
